Along The ‘Assi Ganga’
- For the water enthusiasts, we have a series of natural pools just 10 minutes walk above the Kuflon Camp, or one could simply walk down to the gushing and crystal clear Assi Ganga and discover any of the many beautiful spots along the river for a picnic or just to sit and contemplate on a rock amidst the forest next to the water.
Angling For Trout
- The Assi Ganga is known for it’s brown trout (also mistakenly called Himalayan trout or golden trout), a species of gamefish introduced in the 1920s. Native fish in the river area torrent catfish and snow trout. You have to get an angling permit from the Forest Department in Uttarkashi (Rs. 500 / angling permit per rod per day) before setting out. The permit issued is strictly for catch and release. All fish caught irrespective of size and method has to be released back alive in to the river. It is recommended you carry your own fishing tackle. For beginners we have angling sessions (2-3 hrs).

‘Ayana Devi’ Hike
- Drive 11 km. to Naald village and start the hike (3 hours one way). Located at 6500 ft, the ancient temple of Ayana Devi is dedicated to Goddess Durga and the hike takes one through a particularly scenic and dense forest of pine and rhododendron trees.

Cycling Trails
- Bring your mountain bicycles and enjoy the experience of exploring the area around the Assi Ganga valley. For more adventure, try out the off road trails to nearby villages and beyond (approx. 10 kms one way)

Dodi Taal
- Kuflon Basics is conveniently situated at the base of the popular trek to Dodi Taal (approx. 10000 ft). If you have 3-4 days at hand, the Dodi Taal experience can be organized and customized as per your requirements.

Gangotri / Gaumukh
- One of the four major pilgrimages (Chaar Dhaam), Gangotri is dedicated to Mother Ganga. Driving time from Kuflon Basics is around 4 hours / 100 kms one way. Options include a day long trip to Gangotri or if you have 3 extra days, you could trek to Gaumukh (approx. 13,000 ft.), the origin point of Ganga. Trek to Gaumukh requires a permit from the Forest Department at UttarKashi and we can arrange it for you on basis of prior notice at an extra cost of Rs. 350, in addition to the permit cost.

Nachiketa Taal
- Drive approx. 40 km/1.5 hours to Chaurangi Khal (6500 ft) and walk 3 kms/1.5 hours to reach Nachiketa Taal dedicated to Rishi Nachiketa who finds mention in the Kathopanishad for winning over ‘Yama’ the Lord of Death and attaining immortality. The Taal (pond) abounds with Mirror Carp (fish) and the walk to the taal offers stunning views of the great Himalayas.
‘Seku – Agoda’ Hike
- This is a full day circular hike through the picturesque Seku and Agoda villages. Leave post early breakfast to return for the evening tea.

Uttarkashi Town
- Drive 11 kms to the town of UttarKashi. It is a quaint old town mentioned in many ‘Puranas’ and hailed as the Varanasi of the ‘Kaliyuga’. One can visit the ‘Vishwanath’ temple (and many more), sit along the Ganga ghat for the evening Aarti, visit the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) or just saunter through the town’s main market dotted with eateries, cyber cafe’s, ATM’s and quaint shops.
